Living Him Out Loud

I’m not sure about you but our family has been facing challenge after challenge after challenge. My old self would have reacted, crumbled, lashed out, walked in a frenzy of nerves. Basically, I would’ve been one hot mess.

Instead, I’ve been half a mess! Ha ha

But seriously, let’s unwrap this situation. I am going through a heart change, a battle of the flesh. I struggle with trust. I can be critical. I am overwhelmingly a seeker of knowledge. So, when there’s a bump in the  road and things do not go as planned, I want a quick fix and I want everyone to play by the rules.

I’m setting myself up for failure each and every time.

““If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says God, “I’ll get you out of any trouble. I’ll give you the best of care if you’ll only get to know and trust me. Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times; I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party. I’ll give you a long life, give you a long drink of salvation!””

‭‭Psalm ‭91:14-16‬ ‭MSG‬‬

I have been resting in Psalm 91 for several weeks. I want to lift a hallelujah and praise the Lord’s name for bringing me to this particular scripture. WOW! It’s a beautiful piece reminding me how close God is to each one of us. That He seeks relationship with His children and offers beautiful promises. He wants us to talk to Him for He is always listening and near. He promises security for His truth is our armor. We are encouraged to know as we take refuge in His shelter we can stomp on evil seeking us to destroy. His promises offer protection.

“For here is what the Lord has spoken to me: “Because you loved me, delighted in me, and have been loyal to my name, I will greatly protect you.”

‭‭Psalm 91:14‬ ‭TPT‬‬

I see my family’s challenges be made smaller and smaller as I place each word of Psalm 91 against every speed bump. When my eyes are on Him and I seek refuge from this storm, I find that I am talking to Him more rather than complaining to others. I recognize anger bubbling up and I stomp it so that grace flows from my mouth rather than venom. I am invited to a divine intervention and blessed with standing on the promises of God.

My Walk With Psalm 91:

1. I read several translations of Psalm 91.

2. I circled all of the verbs and found patterns of His actions, all for me and for you!

3. I read Psalm 91 out loud.

4. I personalized Psalm 91 out loud.

5. When I felt the urge to scream out of frustration or my critical heart rear up, I would seek Him in prayer immediately, reciting Psalm 91.

Psalm 91

“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished. If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”

“They said, ‘Whenever we are faced with any calamity such as war, plague, or famine, we can come to stand in your presence before this Temple where your name is honored. We can cry out to you to save us, and you will hear us and rescue us.’”
